The body naturally favours carbohydrates as a main source of energy. So if your eating to many carbs, your body just wont use your fat. Why would it? If you cut down the calories you are getting from carbs to about 10-15% your body will have no choice but to begin burning fat. This state is called ketosis and is completely safe. There are too many ways to achieve “carb binge” status these days. Your friend’s birthday party, and he ordered 12 pizzas, and you know there’s a cake finale afterwards. Maybe it’s just another office birthday, and why wouldn’t you have free cake? Grandma had you over for tea and cookies, and bores you into a binge. Whatever the reason, you happen to find your self caught up in a carb binge, and after the guilt and insulin spike have worn off, you want to know what just happened to your body.
But if you just cannot resist, there’s (little) good news, and there’s bad news.

For all you pancake lovers out there, these are absolutely delicious. They are so easy to whip up and make a great meal for a late Sunday morning, or breakfast in bed.
Honestly, I was NEVER a pancake fan until I went paleo. They just weren’t that tasty to me, until I started getting sick of eating eggs every morning for breakfast when I started paleo, I began making almond flour pancakes, and now I’m addicted! The best part is that you are getting healthy fats and protein from the almonds, and some vitamins from the banana. I go for 3rds! If you want to make it really gourmet, top with the blueberry sauce from my paleo cereal recipe. Mmmmmm….

In the beginning of my paleo journey, one of the biggest challenges I found was geting full on paleo foods. Most meals I used to eat included some type of grain (be it rice, pasta, garlic bread), and that really tipped me to the edge of being full. Once I started plaeo, I realized I needed to find some recipes that would add something to the meal to get me to the point again. One trick I learned was having at least 2 vegtable/fruit side dishes. This offers variety and allows me to eat more, and feel great about having a full plate.

Grains, the staple of our modern diet, provide us with little nutritional value, while being the primary contributor to the greatest health crisis our world has seen since the Bubonic Plague. If only people knew what grains were doing to them, the billions of dollars of needless health care costs for pills, surgeries, and other life-extending measures they were incurring, maybe they could make a change – one that could quite literally save their life.

This is a super easy recipe that tastes great. Because of the spice, I like keeping it simple by topping it with some arugula and paleo catalina dressing. This recipe makes about 4 burgers, the raw patties can easily be frozen for quick dinners!
These also make great lunches, if you have left overs, hate the next day with some chopped up lettuce and your desired sauce. You can also throw a fried egg on top for an exotic taste.
